SA PA VIETNAM

As I approached my 40th birthday, I started to feel a bit nostalgicically reflective about all that I had accomplished in my life thus far. While I had always dreamed of traveling the world and experiencing new cultures, I had always put my career and other responsibilities first.

So when my husband surprised me with a trip to Sa Pa, Vietnam for my birthday, I was over the moon. Located in the northwest region of the country, Sa Pa is known for its beautiful mountain scenery, lush rice terraces, and vibrant hill tribes.

We arrived in Hanoi, the capital city, and spent a few days exploring the bustling streets and sampling delicious local cuisine. We visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, paid our respects at the One Pillar Pagoda, and took a leisurely stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake.

But it was the journey to Sa Pa that really stole my heart. As we made our way through the winding roads and towering mountains, I couldn't believe the breathtaking views that greeted us at every turn. The rice terraces stretched out as far as the eye could see, and the quaint villages nestled in the valleys below seemed straight out of a fairytale.

We stayed in a traditional homestay, where we were welcomed with open arms by our warm and hospitable hosts. Every morning, we woke up to the sound of roosters crowing and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. After a hearty breakfast, we set out on hikes through the surrounding countryside, taking in the stunning natural beauty and interacting with the friendly local tribes.

In the evenings, we returned to our homestay and enjoyed dinner together, cooked by our hosts using locally grown ingredients. As we sat around the dinner table, laughing and chatting with our new friends, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to celebrate my milestone birthday in such a special and meaningful way.

Overall, my trip to Sa Pa will always hold a special place in my heart. It was a chance to step out of my comfort zone, immerse myself in a new culture, and make memories that will last a lifetime. I am so grateful to my husband for making it all possible, and I can't wait to see where our adventures take us next.

As I celebrate my 40th birthday, I can't help but think back to the incredible trip my husband took me on to Vietnam. From the bustling streets of Hanoi to the stunning rice terraces of Sa Pa, we had the opportunity to experience so much of what this beautiful country has to offer.

One of the highlights of the trip was definitely the food. Vietnam is known for its delicious and diverse culinary traditions, and my husband made sure to take me to some of the best restaurants and cafes the country had to offer.

One of our favorite dining experiences was at a local street food stall in Hanoi. We sat on tiny plastic stools and watched as the vendor expertly prepared fresh pho, a hearty noodle soup made with aromatic spices and flavorful broth. It was the perfect meal to warm us up on a cool evening, and it was so affordable that we ended up eating there several times during our stay.

Another memorable dining experience was at a family-run restaurant in Sa Pa. The owners were so welcoming and hospitable, and they cooked us a delicious meal using locally grown ingredients. We sat around a large table with our hosts and other guests, chatting and laughing over plates of steaming bun cha and sipping on cups of hot green tea. It was such a special and authentic way to experience local culture and cuisine.

We also had the chance to try some international cuisine while in Vietnam, including French-inspired pastries at a chic café in Hanoi and wood-fired pizzas at a cozy Italian restaurant in Sa Pa. No matter where we ate, the food was always fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.

Overall, my trip to Vietnam was filled with so many amazing food experiences that I will always treasure. I am so grateful to my husband for planning such a special and memorable birthday celebration, and I can't wait to see where our culinary adventures take us next.
